Shrink Bundling, also known as sleeve wrapping, is generally used for packages intended for storage, where appearance is not the primary concern. The bundles are wrapped in polyethylene film to protect the goods while being shipped and handled as they are puncture resistant and durable. The “bulls-eye” method is the most popular type of shrink bundling where the ends are left open.
Saturn Packaging offers a variety of Shrink Bundlers that can be custom designed to meet your specific requirements with different infeed and collation options (inline product pushers, multi-lane infeeds).
The main bundling steps are:
1. Infeed conveying
2. Collating/ grouping (optional, as some products are individually sleeve wrapped)
3. Wrapping
4. Sealing
5. Heating
6. Outfeed conveying
The products travel through a polyethylene curtain to create a film sleeve. When passed through the heat tunnel, the sleeve shrinks tightly producing the bull's eye closure style.
Labeling and printing can be integrated with your desired Shrink Packaging system whether its top, bottom, side corner applications.
